Summary:
Emma Horton (35) ran the London Marathon to raise money for cancer research, only to die of cancer two weeks later. She had no idea that it had come back, one year earlier she had been told she was completely cured of the disease that hit her seven years ago. She beat skin cancer at the age of 28 but was still defeated by it in the end. She left behind her husband and 10-year old daughter, who only heard that her mother died when she got back after a schooltrip for a week. Emma actually managed to arrive at the finish within eight hours, which is quite an accomplishment, even for someone who is healthy.
Opinion:
I picked out this story just because it really hit me. I think it is extremely sad that this should happen to anyone, but I really admire the woman for her strength. She was so driven to finish this marathon, an accomplishment on it's own in my opinion, so the fact that she was very sick made it even more admirable. This was a woman who fought for what she wanted, for herself and for others, and this made want to put down this story on my blog.

Wow, this is a terrible story and it hits me as well. I know what it is like to battle cancer but this is really sad. I think people like her are an example to each and everyone of us. Life is short and we need to make the most out of it. Thank you for posting this Daan!
