Pyjama Parties Every Day, Parents Setting A Wrong Example

Summary:

In Middlesburg the Head Teacher wants parents to dress properly when they bring their kids to and from school. A lot of the parents appear at school in their pyjama's to drop their kids off, and when they return they still wear the same 'outfit'. Some parents even attend meetings in their pyjama's. The Headmaster of this school finds it sets a bad example for the kids, but it also makes the teachers uncomfortable. The teacher has done the same thing the principal of a Northern Ireland primary school, he asked the parents to dress more appropriately.
This has been done to protect both the children and the teachers.

Opinion:

I think this is quite a remarkable story. I can't imagine parents bringing their kids to school in their nightwear, it seems very inappropriate to me and it tells me that these people don't care about their looks or appearances. I think it doesn't show respect to other people, the teachers for instance, but it does amaze me that this is important enough to be put in the newspaper. I think it is just weird.

  1. Are you serious? Wearing your pyjamas outside the house? For everyone to see? Not washing up, no shower, not getting dressed? What is next, on a hot summer’s day driving your car in your bikini, or maybe even topless? Of course the school object to this practice. Parents have to set an example. They have to teach their children how to act and behave in public, how to be polite and civil, and also how to be decent. Pyjama mamas may sound cute, but I think they act irresponsible and need to be addressed to change their behaviour. They do not have to dress up, but do show some decency please.

  2. This is indeed a remarkable story! If it had been around the first of April, I would have thought it was a joke! It makes me wonder what other examples they set for their children if they find wearing PJ’s on the street no problem at all! Poor kids...

  3. I find it strange to think that people would leave the house in their pyjamas. I sort of think that the parents are wearing sweatpants and hoodies when they leave the house. An outfit like that could easily be mistaken for pyjamas. Now that I am writing this down I sort of do not really know where I was going with this remark because it does not really matter if they are wearing sweatpants or pyjamas, it send out the wrong message to their children and these people should take better care of themselves.
