Easter or Just Another Christmas Celebration

Summary:

These days Easter is starting to look more and more like Christmas. The stores try to sell more Easter decorations every year, just like they do for the Christmas celebration. The writer of the article doesn't approve of this change. He feels that Christmas has too many obligations and that Easter used to be an opportunity be together with your family. Nowadays Easter is getting more commercial and because of that the writer thinks that the peace and quiet of the Easter holidays are being spoiled. In short, the writer thinks that Easter is being ruined because it will bring more and more obligations with it, just like Christmas does, which is improper because it is actually an event based on the death of Christ.

Opinion:

I think the writer is right, up untill some point anyway. It used to be not so much fuss, but the obligations keep getting bigger and you see more Easter decorations every year, something tha enhances the feeling of obligations. He forgets to mention that the origin of Easter lies in Paganism, which explains the eggs and bunnies, because they are Pagan symbols for  fertility. But as far as I know Christmas is also based on a Pagan winterfestivaland because this was so big, they chose that same time to celebrate Christmas. So I think that when you write an article like this, you should first investigate every angle of it.

  1. I am very fond of the bank holidays in Holland, because of two reasons: 1. I am a day off of work and 2. as I am a religious person I am glad that we all can celebrate the birth of baby Jesus, His death and resurrection, His ascension and, last but not least Pentecost time. Regrettably many people do not know (anymore) what for they celebrate these Christian days. So I can imagine that boredom and obligation has made place for this basic joy.
Be blessed with the Best, I should say.
